Lena Varner, RNFA, MSN, NP

Born at RVMC, Lena Varner is one of our bariatric nurse practitioners and surgical nurses at Southern Oregon Bariatric Center. Lena works closely with patients through their entire weight loss surgery process from their initial pre-surgical screening, while they are in the operating room with the surgeons, and during their post-surgery follow up care. She believes the Southern Oregon Bariatric Center offers patients a well-rounded program supported by a comprehensive array of services during this time of change. Lena has friends and family who have had bariatric surgery and enjoys watching their lives change in wonderful ways.

She received her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing and her RN First Assistant certification through the Oregon Health Sciences University satellite program at Southern Oregon University. Lena has worked as a surgical nurse for 9 years. In 2006, she was granted her Master’s degree as a Nurse Practitioner through Western University of Health Sciences, Pomona, CA. In her free time, she enjoys snow-skiing and dirt biking. She hopes to race cross-country one day.
